Bblunt Salon Secret Hair Colour – Shade 3 Chocolate – Dark Brown

With the current hair trends, it’s really difficult to stay away from hair colours. Earlier I was a pretty much no colour girl but as my greys increased, I was compelled to try out hair colours and this is how I fell in love with hair colouring. I am always in hunt for hair colouring kits which are easy to apply as I find global hair colouring a waste of money; I would rather spend that money on getting good highlights or baylage. I even prefer hair colours which are free of ammonia so that it causes the less of damage to my hair. The recently launched Bblunt hair colour range had all these qualities and there was no doubt that I had to give it a try.

Product Claims: BBLUNT’s Salon Secret High Shine Crème Hair Colour

While all other hair colours leave your hair dull, this revolutionary at-home hair colour gives you soft, shiny hair and colour that lasts up to 4 to 6 weeks. Specially created for the Indian skin tones, this no ammonia hair colour gives 100% grey coverage, lasts long and is available in 7 blockbuster shades. This 3-part hair colour comes with a unique Shine Tonic, enriched with Silk Proteins that gives salon like gorgeous hair at-home!

Shine Tonic, is the secret ingredient to be mixed with the colourant and developer in the bowl. Apply the smooth and fragrant, non-drip blend for glossy, epic shiny hair.

The 7 shades available are

1 Black – Natural Black

4.20 Wine – Deep Burgundy

3 Chocolate – Dark Brown

5.32 Honey – Light Golden Brown

2.10 Blueberry – Blue Black

4.56 Mahogany – Reddish Brown

4.31 Coffee – Natural Brown

I was confused between the brown shades but as I wanted maximum grey coverage and I even wanted to tone down my highlights which had reached below the crown level, I decided to go for the shade Chocolate – Dark Brown. Hadn’t it been for grey coverage I would have surely chosen 5.32 Honey – Light Golden Brown.

Price: Rs 199 – 225

I have already tried out quite a few hair colouring kits in the past so it was easy for me to compare this product with them and even judge which one suited me the best.

My take on the product: The Bblunt Salon Secret Hair Colour kit comes with a developer, colourant and a shine tonic. Like other regular hair colours you have to mix the entire contents in a bowl. The only difference being the Bblunt Salon Secret Hair Colour provides you with shine tonic which is supposed to be mixed along with the developer and colourant as opposed to a conditioner which is used after colouring.

The hair colour application and procedure is quite simple, you can section your hair and colour using a colouring brush or like the lazy me, you can wear the disposable gloves and apply colour starting from the centre moving out on each side. It took around 15- 20 mins for the application. Depending on the density and the volume of your hair, you will have to decide if you need more than one pack of the Bblunt Salon Secret Hair Colour. The colour fell a bit short for my mid back length hair and I was not able to cover the ends properly. If I could use half the quantity from one more pack, I would be able to cover each and every strand. So girls with long/thick hair, you might want to keep an additional box if you are not sure that one pack will be sufficient for you.

The hair colour has a pleasant smell but it’s a bit strong. I kept the hair colour for 30 minutes as mentioned and then washed and conditioned my hair like usual. I must say that the hair colour did not dry out nor did my hair look coarse unlike other hair colours. I was glad that the Shine tonic did what it claimed. The grey coverage was excellent. Trust me, I have used a lot of dark brown shades in the past but no one was able to cover the grey hair like the Bblunt Salon Secret Hair Colour. I was really happy that I opted for the shade Chocolate and that it gave me the all the desired results.

This is how the before and after pictures looks like.

Overall Verdict: Overall, I am super impressed with the Bblunt Salon Secret Hair Colour. I am really happy that without damaging my hair texture, it gave me such an easy and beautiful grey coverage. I am even happy how this shade gives me the natural dark brown shade I had hoped for. What more can I ask for in just Rs 199?

Next on my mind will be the shade 5.32 Honey – Light Golden Brown. This time I will make sure I get 2 packs so that I can use half quantity from the other pack and ensure full and even coverage.

Tip: If you have visible greys near your crown and upper area, starting the colouring process from the center of your head, this gives additional time for the hair colour to set and which eventually results in better grey coverage.

Bblunt’s coming up with real amazing hair stuff, their recently launched hair clip-in extensions seem pretty interesting and I would love to try out the volume and length hair extensions. Have you tried them? Do let me know in the comment section below.
