The Maybelline V Face Blush and Contour Review
Maybelline is a brand that had a lot of new launches in 2016, out of which one of them is the ‘V Face’ series. The ‘V Face’ products were the first of the contouring cosmetics launched in India at a very affordable price. The V Face series consisted of a contour and highlight stick, a compact powder and the Blush and Contour palette. Today I’ll be reviewing the Blush and Contour palette.
Price: INR 550 for 9g
Package Description: The V Face Blush and Contour palette comes in a black and silver packaging. Honestly, I’m not very impressed with the packaging. The packaging is not very sturdy and can easily break off. As you can see in the picture, there are 3 sections; the lightest shimmery shade is for highlighting, the middle peachy shade is the blush and the brown shade is meant for contouring. So, there are three different products into one palette. It also comes with a slanted brush for application.
Product Details: What I love about is the texture. All the 3 products are made of finely milled powders that have a smooth texture. These are not super pigmented though. Also, they do not have any particular scent.
My Experience with the product: When I went to buy this product, I was actually looking out for a powdery blush and I actually had in my mind the ‘Maybelline Cheeky Glow blush’ in the shade ‘Creamy Cinnamon’. However, I saw the V Face series put up on the counter and thought I should give it a try as I had seen a lot of advertisements on social media about these products. I picked out the peach variant as it had a mix of slightly subtle and wearable shades.
I am pretty impressed with the blush, it looks really amazing on me skin and adds a subtle hint of colour but I’m not very impressed with the Highlighter and the Contour. The applicator they provide, just kind of builds up the entire product on a part of my face, and it’s not impressive, because the product is just concentrated on one area of the face. Also, the highlighter doesn’t show up on my skin and the contour is too subtle to add depth and dimension to my face as a contour product ideally should. Even for the swatches I had to put in some extra efforts for the colours to show up on my arm. Overall, except for the blush I think this product was a disappointment.
Hits – The Maybelline V Face Blush and Contour
- Packaging is very sleek and lightweight
- Easy availability
- Quite affordable
Misses – The Maybelline V Face Blush and Contour
- Not a very good colour payoff on my skin
- Colours are not highly pigmented
- The applicator is not of a very good quality and doesn’t really work well
- The highlighter and contour don’t really work on wheatish/dark skin tone
Overall Verdict: It’s a quite average product for me and as mentioned I am only impressed with the blush. I will look out for other alternatives to this product as it didn’t really work well on my skin.
