Package Description: This comes in a box packaging and the stick has a bullet system on both ends with a cap where on one end is the highlighter and the other end is the contour. I must admit this is the most convenient & travel friendly packaging ever!
My experience with the product: I was specifically looking for a contour stick and stumbled upon this Duo stick by Maybelline. Looking at the pricing and the fact that it offers a highlighter as well, I was tempted to try this! The shade I picked was Medium to Dark which I felt was the best for my skin tone. The shade range was very constricted and for someone with a bit darker skin tone than mine would have a tough time finding their match.
The contour as well the highlight is in a cream form that needs blending. The texture is smooth and the highlighter doesn’t have any chunky glitter. What I like is that these blend quite effortlessly in the skin. Adding to this, the stick format makes it very easy to apply and blend quickly. I’m not very happy with the pigmentation of both especially the highlighter; it has extremely poor pigmentation. The contour is also not that great in terms of pigmentation, but it is buildable. Coming to the lasting power of these, the highlighter again performs very poorly and would stay for a maximum of 3 hours post which it just looks like a white patch on the skin that looks weird. The contour is fairly good and it stays on for a good 6 hours without looking patchy.
Talking of the creamy formulation, after using this Duo stick I have been actively avoiding cream contours and highlighters because they do not sit well on my oily face and need excessive powdering which I dislike. Also these aren’t particularly comfortable on my face and they just have this weird, heavy feel.
Hits – Maybelline V-Face Duo Stick- Contour and Highlight
- Compact and travel friendly packaging
- Decently priced
- Easily blends onto the skin
- Contour lasts for about 6 hours
Misses – Maybelline V-Face Duo Stick- Contour and Highlight
- Poor pigmentation of both- highlight and contour
- Highlighter looks extremely patchy
- Shade range very constricted
- Cream formulation might not work for oily skin
- Not very lightweight & comfortable on face
Overall Verdict: I’m not super impressed with this Duo Stick, I wish they had a wider shade range and an improved highlighter. I would be using this only when I’m travelling and need some on the go makeup!
