Shopping in Bangkok – Top 10 places to Shop

Shopping in Bangkok – Top 10 places to Shop

Bangkok is a shopper’s paradise. Shopping in Bangkok is real fun as its a mix of high-end brands plus local shopping. You can easily find malls close to your hotel and in the evening mostly all streets are filled with local sellers who sell everything right from clothes, mobile accessories to handicrafts and makeup.

This was my second trip to Thailand. The first time I was not sure where to shop and spent quite some time looking for the right places. I still shopped a lot, you can check my Bangkok shopping Haul here. This time a did some research before going out so that I could utilize my time and get the best shopping experience. During my first visit, my blog did not exist so I did not pay any extra attention to any place; but this time due to AGG I tried to find the exact details of each place and even managed to click some pictures. This quick guide will help you all to know some best places to shop in Bangkok.

`

1. MBK

(Pathumwan, Siam)

MBK-mall-Bangkok

`

The very first name that comes to my mind is MBK (Ma Boon Khrong) Centre. It is one of the most well known shopping centres in Bangkok. There are 8 storeys in this huge mall and each level for different category of shops. Girls, the first 3 levels are of only importance to us, so if you are not interested in handcrafts or going to the food court and multiplex, you might as well skip the other levels. The 4th level is specially for gadget freaks its filled with shops selling electronics, mobiles, tablets and all types of mobile accessories. In MBK, you will find copies of most of the brands, specially makeup and bags. By most of the brands, I literally mean most of them, right from the MAC lipsticks, NARS blushes to the Urban Decay eye shadow palettes. 😛 I was really tempted to buy the UD eyeshadows but then gave it a miss. You can even find a lot of Korean skincare and makeup brands like Beauty Buffet, Oriental Princess, Cathy Doll including other beauty stores like Boots and Watsons. I was not able to find good clothes here tough but something girls should not miss is picking handbags from this place and visiting the Beauty Buffet store.

2. Platinum Fashion Mall

(Ratchathewi, Pratunam)

`

One more great option is The Platinum Fashion Mall which has 5 Levels of shopping in both wings. The mall is also labelled as wholesale shopping mall as you get real good deals if you buy in bulk. You can find a lot of fashion clothes in this mall. Unfortunately, there are no changing rooms so you will have to guess the fitting and pick it up. There are a lot of stores in this mall, so an important piece of advise…. If you like something, don’t think too much, try bargaining and pick it up. If you plan it for later, there are chances you might not find that shop or you might end up wasting a lot of time just to find the exact shop.

3.Siam Square

(Siam Square)

`

Siam Square is a place not to be missed. The place changes completely at night when stalls are set up along the streets selling lots of fashion items and street food. You will find stalls on both the sides and it is really crowded, so you have to make your way along this narrow street and even adjust with people pushing you. 😛 But that’s what makes street shopping fun! I found some lovely tops and accessories while passing by Siam Square.

4. Chatuchak Weekend Market

(Chatuchak Market)

`

Chatuchak Weekend is one of the largest market in Thailand. The market has thousands of stalls selling a wide array of products including souvenirs, painting, fashion for both female and male, accessories, footwear, household items; almost everything. 😛 It can get quite hot with a lot of walking and no AC, so wear something comfortable and keep your handbag light. You can even try the famous ‘ Coconut Ice cream’ here.

5. Siam Paragon

(Rama I Road)

siam-paragon

`

If you are looking for hing end and expensive brands, you should definitely check out Siam Paragon. It has luxury brands like Dior, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Marc Jacobs and Armani and many more. You can even find other brands like H&M, Zara, Miss Sixty, Mango, TopShop, etc. The best of makeup brands are here too.

6. Siam Centre

(Rama 1 Road, Pathumwan)

siam-centre

`

Siam Center is located just next to Siam Paragon. It was one of Bangkok’s first shopping malls. This place is not as luxurious as the Siam Paragoan, but you will be able to find some great brands here. You will find brands such as DKNY, Diesel, Armani Exchange, Sephora, MAC, Victoria’s Secret, etc. here.

`

7. Indra Market

`

I checked a lot of sites to find the best places to shop in Bangkok but I am unsure why this place isn’t listed in best places to shop in Bangkok. Maybe due to the copy items they sell here. All the electronics sold here are copies, there is a lot of variety in the copies too so just be careful of the quality of the item you buy. 😛 I still visited this place as I love the accessory shops here and you can find really good luggage bags here. You can even find mobile accessories and covers here. I picked up a nice sturdy selfie stick at a decent price. Indra Market is filled with Indian sellers and you will be able to communicate with most of the shopkeepers in Hindi. Just out of curiosity I inquired the price of I phone 6 plus which I already have and to my surprise I was shocked that the copy was only for Rs 10k whereas the original one costs Rs 75k. 😛

8. Central World

(Pathumwan)

`

Central World is the sixth biggest shopping center in the world with eight floors. In this mall too, floors are divided to specific items like 2nd floor for women, 3rd for men, 4th for electronics and so on. The mall is so huge that they even sells car and motorbikes. 🙂 There is even an ice skating rink on the ground floor.

9. Terminal 21

(Sukhumvit Road)

terminal-21-bangkok

`

Terminal 21 is located near Asok sky train station. Each floor is designed as a city, one is London, another is Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Istanbul, San Fransisco and Hollywood. What a brilliant concept! The food court here is amazing and you will find a lot of variety too. If you are tired of the regular shopping malls, this place will definitely light you up.

10. Pratunam Market

(Ratchaprop)

Pratunam-Market

`

Pratunam Market is located in one of Bangkok’s most happening districts and is among the most thriving shopping markets in Bangkok. The market deals mostly clothing but you will even find good Thai souvenirs here.

If you are on a short trip, it will be difficult to visit all these place, so try covering the places close to your hotel first or the brands that matter to you.

Hope this list will help you to utilize your time properly. If you have been to Bangkok, I would love to know your favourite places to shop.

XOXOXO
